Program:
Lenny Russo –“ A
Chef’s Tour of Slovenia”, by Lenny Russo, chef/owner of Heartland Restaurant &
Farm Direct Market in St. Paul, the first Minnesotan to be named to the elite
American Chef Corps, a culinary partnership with the U.S. State Department and
the James Beard Foundation. The
corps links chefs to embassies and foreign audiences where they showcase
American culinary traditions and foods.
Last April, Mr. Russo travelled throughout Slovenia to learn about
traditional ingredients, dishes and preparations. Felina Films followed him and
produced an eight-episode TV series for Slovenia called “Seasoned by Americans.”
At this special meeting of the Twin Cities Slovenians, Mr. Russo will
talk about his amazing experiences in Slovenia, including a near brush with
death when his car toppled from a mountain road into a ravine.
