Minutes of March 21, 2009 Membership Meeting
At the Nectary
Welcome – President Norm Setnicker called the meeting to order at 9:50 a.m. Refreshments were provided by Sue Rademacher and Yvonne McComber. There were 27 members in attendance.
Slovenec Sem – We didn’t sing the song due to time restraints. Mary Manning added that this song is very difficult to sing, and suggested we use an easier one at future meetings.

Treasurer’s Report – Yvonne reported that we have 6 new or renewing members. The checkbook balance as of March 21is $1,893.40.
Election of Officers - Al Sifter moved to accept the slate presented. Motion seconded and carried. Officers for 2009-2010 are:
President – Norm Setnicker
Vice President – Robert Grahek, with help from Jim Smrekar
Treasurer – Yvonne McComber
Corresponding Secretary – Jean Rolstad
Recording Secretary – Yvonne McComber and Mary Alice Schwanke
Slovenian Translator – Mirjam Gremes was mentioned as a very good translator, particularly of legal documents. Her email addresses were shared.
Sing-a-long at Miro Medved’s on March 27 was announced. A sign up sheet was sent around. Perhaps the singers can learn the Slovenian National Anthem for the Consul’s visit.
Consul visit – June 24. Slovenian Consul Zvon Zigon will be visiting the Twin Cities. More details will be forthcoming.
SWUA survey – Norm urged those who have online access to be sure to complete the National survey.
TCS Survey – Norm developed a survey for our local membership. A few minutes were taken so that attendees could fill them out and returned to Norm.
Family History Project – Mary Medved again urged folks to participate.
Festival of Nations, April 30 through May 3 – Mary Medved urged everyone to sign up to work the booth. A mock up of the booth was presented by Frank Medved. Jeff Martinka, a member of the committee, has done extensive research on inventors. Be sure to check out our website for more information. A life size model of the peddler with a suho roba on his back will be in the booth so that visitors can have their picture taken as the peddler. There will be more information at the next membership meeting in April which will be a “dress rehearsal”. Costumes will be available for trying on. Popular activities, like being able to translate the names of the visitors and getting their passport stamped are being planned for. The committee would like to have a native speaking participant at every shift.
