10:00  - 10:30  Festival of Nations -  Mike Koski will describe the upcoming Festival of Nations and how the Twin Cities Slovenians will participate.  This is the major annual event for our group and is a terrific way to share our cultural heritage with thousands of people.  Mike will provide practical information for volunteers.      (Festival of Nations will be held at the St. Paul River Center May 2-5.  Set-up for the TCS booth will be May 1st.)

Mike will also introduce Tea Rozman Clark, who recently moved to Minnesota from Slovenia with her husband and two daughters.  Ms. Rozman Clark is completing her Ph.D. in oral history and working on a web-based story-telling project called “Green Card Voices.”

10:30 – 11:00    Kurentovanje Demonstration – Tea Rozman Clark will tell us about “Kurentovanje” – the Slovenian Mardi Gras celebration.  Ms. Rozman Clark will also demonstrate construction of kurent-style masks for children.  This demonstration will be part of our exhibit at this year’s Festival of Nations.  We will have materials at the April 20 meeting so you can make your own mask.

11:00 - 11:30  Wine raffle;  check out Lending Library (return books you have borrowed!);      Coffee/Conversation

As usual, there will be a $4 charge to cover the cost of room rental, coffee and rolls.

Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help with this year’s Festival.  We still need more volunteers!  On April 20, Mike will have the sign up sheet, admission tickets and parking passes. Off site parking is being covered by the Twin Cities Slovenians. Volunteers receive an admission ticket. You can enjoy the Festival for free if you volunteer.   If you have questions, or would like to volunteer, Mike’s e-mail is mhkoski@comcast.net
