The combined Minnesota branches of SUA are pleased to announce that preparations are underway for the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Slovenian Union of America at our next SUA National Convention. Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, August 2, 2026. (Yes, the conventions are usually held four years apart, but our Centennial in 2026 inspired this one-time change.) Committees have been formed, plans are being made, and we have chosen a fantastic venue.
Fortune Bay Resort Casino is located on beautiful Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota near the Iron Range where many Slovenian immigrants settled to work in the mines. You’ll have an opportunity to visit the Minnesota Discovery Center,where you can learn about the Land, the Mines, the People, and the Work of Minnesota’s Iron Range.
Summer in Minnesota provides the perfect time and place to celebrate the way that SUA has survived, grown, and thrived during these past one hundred years. Perhaps you’ll find time to fish or boat on Lake Vermilion. You might enjoy the Wilderness golf course which is set among majestic pines and dramatic rock outcroppings on the shores of the lake. Most importantly, at the convention you will renew acquaintances, make new friends, and embrace our Slovenian heritage with traditional music, delicious food, and other surprises.
