Here is the order link: Order 2027 Calendar Now!

We will have our Prince’s Stone presentation. Thomas Jefferson was aware of this ritual and may have used it as an inspiration for early democratic principles, specifically the consent of the governed.

Also, Betty Tisel will lead us in singing two songs: V Dolini Tihi and Pastirče Mlado i Milo.

If you’d like to listen ahead of time, here are the video links:

  • V Dolini Tihi
  • Pastirče Mlado i Milo

The lyrics and translations are included below. Please note that the lyrics we’ll use for Pastirče Mlado i Milo differ slightly from those in the video.

Lyrics and rough translation:

V Dolini Tihi

Lyrics:

Rough translation:

In the quiet valley, there is a small village
In the evening dusk, everything is already sleeping peacefully
Only one window is still open
Where a sad girl was leaning against it

Everyone is asleep; only the moon shines
There on the window of the sorrowful girl
And asks her why she is still not sleeping
Why she is wiping away such bitter tears?

“The nightingale sang, sang its song
While I concealed my love
But he went away, far away
He sang and sang, out into the silent night.
”

Pastirče Mlado i Milo

Young and gentle shepherd, why have you become so very sad?

Is it because your flock is gone and you experienced a heartbreak?

Yes, my flock is gone, and something in my heart has given way.

As for me, I grab my flute and play, reaching out to my sweetheart.

The whole mountain echoes because of the loud sound of the flute, but my  sweetheart. does not hear me.

She answers me (eventually), telling me that she has fallen in love with another.

Translation by Tea Rozman

We plan to display the lyrics on the screen during the meeting. If you prefer a paper copy, please print the lyrics and bring them along, as printed copies will not be provided.

Thank you to Betty for helping us enjoy these songs together!
